Masjid Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani

Established in 1983, Masjid Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani began its journey in a rented home within Fresh Meadows, NY, later relocating to Sanford Ave and 149 St in Flushing, NY.

As our vibrant Afghan community flourished, so did our urgent need for a dedicated, permanent spiritual home. Through unwavering community generosity and support, we successfully acquired a two-family property on 149 St and Beech Ave, seamlessly transforming it for regular prayer services. Over subsequent years, our community expanded significantly, leading to the strategic purchase of neighboring adjacent properties.

In 2007, we achieved a milestone by acquiring another property, merging the lots to construct a brand new, custom-designed three-floor masjid structure. Today, our facility proudly accommodates over 1,000 congregants, featuring a 3,000 sq ft dedicated prayer floor for men, a separate 3,000 sq ft prayer space for women on the second floor, and a highly versatile 6,000 sq ft multipurpose basement.
